Corporative Vice-President and President of the CSR Committee
In 2017 we continued working to strengthen our sustainability programs. All our programs are framed within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and we are convinced that this is the way to ensure that all our actions impact the economic, social and environmental development of the countries where we operate.
In this sense, our financial inclusion programs allowed Banco Ficohsa to become a member of the Global Banking Alliance for Women (GBA) in 2017. GBA is an international consortium that recognizes the importance of women in the financial world.
Our commitment to the community continues through the contributions of the Ficohsa Foundation for Early Childhood Education, which, in 2018, celebrates its twentieth anniversary. The Foundation supports 149 preschool education centers to improve student attendance and retention rates, in order to ensure that these leaders of the future have the necessary tools for their academic development. To date, we have supported 118,964 children in Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama, investing more than US$ 1.8 million in school lunches, donating 853 computers and training 302 teachers
In addition, we have continued to improve our financial education platform, Tus Finanzas Tu Futuro. (Your Finances, your Future). Through this portal, we provide guides and tools to educate users about the importance of maintaining healthy personal finances.
Innovation and continuous improvement of our management aligned to the needs of our stakeholders are fundamental tasks of our organization, so we also conduct open social dialogues with our customers, employees, suppliers and other groups in society, as a means to ensure that our products and services are adequate and meet their expectations. These initiatives have allowed us to improve our management, generate a high degree of trust and maintain high levels of collaboration.
In 2017, we received several awards that accredit the performance of the Ficohsa family: We ranked as the Best Bank in Honduras by Global Finance, The Banker and LatinFinance, some of the most prestigious financial magazines in the world. We were also recognized by Great Place to Work as one of the best companies to work for in Central America and the Caribbean.
Likewise, our efforts in social responsibility were rewarded by FUNDAHRSE and CEMEFI and it is thanks to all our employees that we can succeed in this manner, demonstrating our commitment to clients and communities in the countries we operate in.
We are extremely proud of these actions, through which we demonstrate our commitment with the well-being and socioeconomic development of the Central American Region. In Ficohsa, we believe that it is our duty to support communities that have been key to our development as a financial group. As always, we will continue committed with this objective and look forward to the achievements obtained by working together and for the common good.
